Customary for MAFA Easter Committee
I. Purpose and Scope
Purpose: To outline the procedures and standards for the process of decorating the altar at Easter
Scope: This document applies to all members of MAFA and any other person handling this process.
II. Budget
No current budget restrictions.
III. Work Instructions : Advising staff, proper placement of traditional items, and storage
2 weeks prior: Email Chris Falkenstein, Director of Facilities, to advise of date to put up stations of the cross.
Week after Easter: Email Manny Fimbres, Communications Manager, authorization to remove lilies from altar as a publication in the Messenger and/or bulletin.
- Prep for Ash Wednesday:
2 days before Ash Wednesday, hang the stations of the cross. The boxes holding the stations of the cross are located in the MAFA closet on the left side.

- Prep for Good Friday:
Arrange for delivery of the lilies to be made on Good Friday.
Part of the delivery is to have 2 carts outside the HVAC room between the offices and the sanctuary. The windows back of to Faith’s office.
Expect to order 48 lilies (6 boxes of 8 lilies each).
Take the lilies out of the boxes, put them on the carts and put the carts inside the HVAC room.
If they have a paper covering, take the paper off. Ensure papers and boxes are appropriately discarded.
- Prep for Easter (Easter Saturday )

Take down the stations of the cross. Return to the proper storage box. Return to the MAFA closet.

Clay pots and saucers are put along the risers. Place the lilies in the clay pots. Discard all foil and debris from the lilies.
After the 3 PM service (approximately 530 PM)
Put the lilies on the altar. 24 to be placed on the north side, and 24 to be placed on the south side.
Decorate the front planters outside if necessary.

Note: Parishioners may take home the lilies the Sunday after Easter. The pots must be left for future use.
Lily Watering Schedule- the lilies should be watered twice the week after Easter. Once, the Tuesday after Easter, and then again on Friday.
After the lilies are taken home, throw away left over lilies and return the pots to the MAFA closet.
